Germ theory

• Pasteurs germ theory:

  • Louise Pasteur disproved the spontaneous generartion.
  • His research proved microbes cause decay not the product of decaying matter.
  • Pasteur published his germ theory in 1861 but it only got accepted in 1864
• Air contains micro-organisms which shows that bacteria spread through air which disapproves misasmas.
• The germ theory played a part of the invention of vaccines.
• Germ theory helped the discovery of pasterisation (heating a liquid then cooling it to kill microbes).
• Pasteurs germ theory didn't identify specific microbes causing specific illness.
