Cards (5)

    • Myofibrils are located in the sarcoplasm, each myofibril is made up of two types of protein filament:
    • Thick filaments made of myosin
    • Thin filaments made of actin
    • These two types of filament are arranged in a particular order, creating different types of bands and line
  • Sarcolemma - plasma membrane that surrounds the cell
  • The sarcomere is the basic contractile unit of skeletal muscle tissue.
  • T tubules - invaginations of the sarcolemma which run through the centre of the myofibrils
  • A sarcomere consists of thick (myosin) and thin (actin) filaments which overlap at the centre of the sarcomere called the H zone.
