Kinetic Molecular Theory

Cards (4)

  • Gases are composed of minute particles called molecules which are in constant state of rapid motion. These possess negligible mass and volume.
  • These molecules move about of high speeds traveling in straight path but in random directions. They are colliding against one another and against the walls of the containing vessel without loss of momentum or energy because they are perfectly plastic.
  • There is neither attractive nor repulsive force between or among gas molecules.
  • The velocity of the molecules change with temperature; increasing at high temperature.
