• Feminist Theories acknowledge that class and ethnicity are valid factors, we cannot generalise about the experiences of women, and same-sex families offer a different environment

  • There is a fundamental division between men and women
  • Women are exploited by men
  • Society is patriarchal/male-dominated
• Patriarchal society =

  men have more power than women and society is shaped to the interests of men.
• Patriarchy persists because; 


  Nuclear families benefit men at the expense of women who are oppressed and gender inequalities are justified within society.
