parliament

• parliament met infrequently+so was not central to government
• comprised of house of lords and the house of commons(house of lords more important)
• only king could call parliament,+H7 demonstrated his right to rule by calling his first parliament in november 1485
• H7 called 7 parliaments in his reign. 5 of these met in the 1st 10 years of his reign+ only two in remaining 14 years;showed power of the crown
• H7 parliament largely concerned with:

  • national security= acts of the attainder
  • raising revenue= tonnage+poundage, extraordinary revenue
