  • Title - Serves to catch the readers attention, should be interesting
  • Introduction - Provide an idea of what to expect all throughout the essay; provides thesis statement
  • Body - provide supporting details; exists to justify the thesis statement
  • Conclusion - summarizes everything that is discussed in from the introduction to body; brings paper to a close
  • Argumentative Essay - Also called persuasive essay
  • Argumentative Essay - It is a piece of writing used to convince readers to argue to an argument or claim about a particular topic.

  • Editorial - states the opinion of the writers
  • Op-Ed (Opposite Editorial) - convince the readers to agree with the writer's views on the issue; to oppose an existing editorial
  • Reviews - evaluate items and activities, such as books, movies, plays, and music from the writer's point of view; can be inaccurate/wrong
  • Advertisements - paid announcements that try to convince people to buy or do something
  • Propaganda - uses emotional appeal and often biased, false, or misleading information to persuade people to think or act in  a certain way
