  • Forgiveness is a mitzvah (command)
  • Jews place emphasis on teshuva. This is where they actively aim to amend their sins which they can do by praying
  • Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). Comes 10 days after Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. These ten days are called the 'Days of awe' and are a period of time dedicated to asking for forgiveness for the previous year's wrongdoings
  • Jews can show they forgive the actions of criminals by supporting the work of prison chaplains
  • Example of forgiveness
    Eva Mozes Kor was close to death many times by Josef Mengele. She hunted down Mengele and said "I believe forgiveness is such a powerful thing"
