In 2003, Vision Mumbai was proposed to improve Mumbai. It invested 40 million into the project and was planned to complete it by 2050
Vision Mumbai s goal was to end traffic congestion, end pollution and improve water quality.
Some of the first things vision Mumbai did was restore over 300 green spaces with dumped waste, make better quality roads, increase train capacity and add 300 extra public toilets
Key goals of vision Mumbai
Build 1 million low cost homes
Reduce size of slums
Improve transport
Improve air and water quality
Vision Mumbai would demolish slums and replace them with apartments and make people pay rent to live there
Vision Mumbai made people angry as they wanted to renovate slums rather then demolish them, as they felt slums were a traditions and apartments separated communities
Some argued that Vision Mumbai only benefited the rich, as slums were also replaced with office buildings to improve the economy
