Cards (7)

  • When does anaerobic respiration occur?
    When the body is in debt of oxygen
    Eg.whilst exercising
  • Word equation for anaerobic respiration
    Glucose ----> lactic acid
  • Why do we favour aerobic over anaerobic respiration?
    There is an incomplete breakdown of glucose as there is a lack of oxygen to oxidise it.This means that not all of its' energy is released.
    Anaerobic respiration produces lactic acid as a bi-product, which can build up and damage cells and lead to oxygen debt and therefore it need removing.
  • What is the formulae for anaerobic respiration in yeast and plants?
    Glucose ---> Ethanol + Carbon Dioxide
  • What is the anaerobic respiration of yeast called?
    Fermentation
  • Where does anaerobic respiration occur?
    In the cytoplasm of living cells.
  • What is oxygen debt?
    The amt of oxygen required to break down the lactic acid.
