• What does arpeggio/broken chord mean?

  The notes of a chord are played separately.
• What does pedal mean?

  A long held note in the bass beneath changing upper parts
• What does inverted pedal mean?

  A long held note in the upper parts. Played on high instruments like violin.
• What does contrary motion mean?

  Two parts that move in opposite directions. E.g one part goes up while the other goes down
• What does counter melody mean?

  A melody played against the main melody.
