  • The five domains of health are physical, social, mental, emotional, and spiritual health
  • Physical health is made up of health related, skill related, and medical related components
  • Flexibility 
    • 2-3 days per week  
    • Stretch to point of feeling tightness or slight discomfort 
    • Hold for 10-30 seconds and 30-60s for older individuals 
    • Flexibility exercises for each major muscle tendon units is recommended 
    • Static, dynamic, ballistic, and PNF 
  • Health related components- cardiorespiratory, muscular strength and endurance, body composition , and flexibility 
  • Skill related components- agility, balance, coordination, power, speed, and reaction time 
  •  Medical related components- integumentary, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular/lymphatic, respiratory, neurologic, endocrine, digestive/excretory/urinary, immune, and reproductive 
  • Overload is the gradual increase of stress placed on the body
  • Intensity can be determined by  
    • Age predicted max heart rate 
    • Heart Rate Reserve (Karvonen formula) 
    • Workloads, METs, RPE, talk test, Systolic Blood Pressure, Interval training
