Significance

Cards (4)

  • Statistical significance
Statistical results can be interpreted only if they are significant. If results are significant, it means there is a low probability (typically < 5% or < 1%) you accidentally observed some random pattern.
    1. P-Value
The probability value, which is the probability of getting the result you got if the null hypothesis was true. It is also the probability that the results favor a random pattern.
  • The lower the p-value, the lower the chance your finding is just some random pattern. This means the higher the chance your finding is a real systematic pattern.
  • Low p-value is good.
