  • Computer Addiction -
    The excessive use of computers to the extent that it interferes with daily life. This
    excessive use may for example interfere with work or sleep, result in problems with social
    interaction, or affect mood, relationships, and thought processes.
  • Cyberbullying - This refers to bullying that takes place online, or using electronic technology such as
    cell phones, computers, and tablets over communication tools including social media sites,
    text messages, chat, and websites. Remember that this does not have to occur online but for
    example, by simply sending someone a text that has harmful content which may cause
    humiliation. We may commit cyberbullying without being aware such as posting an
    embarrassing photo of a friend online, which may damage their self-esteem or lead to others
    making fun of them

    different media networks and companies, more and more people are given jobs in media.

    decisions.

    Education has come a long way from then until now. Learning is not limited anymore to the walls of the classroom.
  • Social Opportunity - The society is heavily influenced by media and information. It is no surprise then that
    media and information have been linked to social changes. Oxford bibliographies referred to
    the social change as a significant alteration of social structure. With the emergence of social
    networking sites, individuals are updated with news all across the globe in real time. Aside
    from being updated, they can also give their feedback regarding issues, communicate with

    the people. They keep an eye for the government, the officials and what they do. It is no
    surprise that media and information play a huge role in the political opportunity because they

    As mentioned in the previous week’s lesson, MOOCs are considered as one of the
    opportunities presented by media and information. As technology progressed, learning also
    progressed and is not limited to the traditional set-up of schooling. A lot of traditional
    educational institutions are also employing their own MOOCs to cater to a wider range of
    individuals. Students with learning disabilities, working students, individuals who would like to
    study another course but cannot attend physically now have a chance.

  • Media Implication - Today, wherever we turn, whatever we do, wherever we go, media is there. It has been
    so embedded in our daily lives that it has become a part of it. Information is conveyed in media,
    whether about news, education, medicine, advertisements, or entertainment.
  • Media and the Individual -
    Media have also made the world smaller. Aside from making communication across
    distances easier, it is now possible to be part of something that is miles and miles away from
    you. When you watch sport events or events broadcasted live, it makes you feel that you are
    part of it. Through social media and other online entertainment platforms, you can rewatch
    shows or films you may have missed.

  • Text and Visual Information Media -
    is a very important foundation of media and information. It is a simple and flexible
    format of presenting information or conveying ideas whether hand-written, printed or displayed
    on-screen. It is primarily used for disseminating information, giving directions and providing
    suggestions. Text can be short as used in printed advertisements or long as in paragraphs in
    news articles but all text has the same goal of conveying meaning and information to the
    reader.
  • Audio and Motion Information Media -
    is a sound recording, or recorded sound. Another powerful tool in conveying
    meaning and information. Aside from music, other forms of audio are sound recording, sound
    effects, radio broadcast, and audio podcast. It may stand alone as a media product but it can
    also accompany text or visuals to convey meaning. Like visuals, audio also follow elements
    and principles of sound design to be able to achieve its purpose of giving instruction or
    information, giving feedback and to personalize and customize.
  • Manipulatives and Multimedia Information Media -, also called Interactive Media are objects that an individual is instructed
    to use to learn. When it comes to media, it is method of communication in which the program's
    outputs depend on the user's inputs, and the user's inputs in turn affect the program's outputs.
    Interactive media engage the user and interact with him or her in a way that non-interactive
    media do not.
    Older examples are the flipbooks, puzzles and blocks.
