mitosis

Cards (6)

  • Prophase - chromosomes condense, spindle fibres form, membrane of nucleus breaks down.
  • metaphase- chromosomes line up along the middle of cell, spindle fibres attach to the centromere of the chromosomes.
  • anaphase- spindle fibres contract(shorten), chromosome splits, chromatids are pulled apart to opposite poles of the cell.
  • telophase-chromosomes unravel, membrane of nucleus reforms, chromosomes now enclosed in 2 separate nuclei
  • cytokinesis- cytoplasm splits, 2 daughter cells produced
  • interphase - DNA replicates, new organelles synthesised, chromosomes not clearly visible
