• Types of delusion

  • persecutory - a strongly held belief that you are being conspired against and that others are pursuing you to try and do you harm
  • erotomantic - belief that another person is in love with you
  • jealous - belief that your partner is being unfaithful
  • grandiose - a strongly held belief that you are someone with special abilities or special powers
  • delusion of interference - a strongly held belief that events in the environment are related to you

  • three case studies on individuals who have early - onset schizophrenia
  • core study 1 - describes a boy
  • showed decline in behavior and academic studies at the age of 10
  • began hearing voices at 12, believed his mother was communicating with people
  • became more erratic
  • barely slept and self care level declined
  • admitted to hospital several times and given a range of medication
  • aggressive behaviors were kept under control
  • still suffered from negative symptoms
