Obedience

• obedience is following orders given by an authority figure
• aim of Milgram's Study of obedience: to see if individuals would obey orders of an authority figure who asks them to commit acts of aggression against others.
• Findings of Milgram's obedience study: obedience rate 65% went to 450v. 100% went to 300v
• conclusion of Milgram's Study: results show that obeying those in authority is normal behaviour in a hierarchical organised society. We'll obey orders that could harm other even when they distress us and go against our moral code
