Social Groups

• Social Groups - a collection of people who regularly interact with one another on the basis of shared expectations concerning behavior and who share a sense of common identity
• Primary Groups - a small social group whose members share personal and enduring relationship (long lasting)
• Secondary Group - usually short term and impersonal
• Reference Group - a group to which we compare ourselves to. (identity association group)
• In group - they feel that they belong and respected
• Out group - you feel the need to compete
