KASHRUT - laws about food that can and can’t be eaten and how they must be prepared- meaning fit, proper or correct.
KOSHER - foods that are prepared according to Jewish dietary laws.
TREIFA - foods that forbidden.
Laws found in torah, mainly Leviticus.
Causing pain to any creature is strictly forbidden in Judaism, so use method called Shechitah - cutting animals throat causing immediate death, avoiding prolonged suffering - a sochet, who carries out the slaughter must live a good, moral life.
Jews must keep meat and dairy separate - Exodus 23:19, “Do not boil a young goat in it’s mother’s milk“ - term Parev, meaning neutral, food is neither dairy or meat.
Most Jews will obey kashrut just because they know God commanded it.
Kitchen utensils must be kept separate in preparing meat and dairy products (some Jews have separate places in their kitchen).
