  • significance is a statistical term which lets us know how sure we are about a correlation or difference existing
  • if significant we reject the null hypothesis and accept alternative hypothesis
  • probability is a calculation of how likely it is that even will happen
  • 0 = statistical impossibility
  • 1 = statistical certainty
  • type 1 error - incorrect rejection
  • type 1 - false positive
  • type 2 = failure to reject the null which is false
  • type 2 - false negative
