    Start: SLC + LM on box, playing with small blocks
    End: SLC stood near back of stage near upturned boxes

    -Displaced manipulation, light circular movements w/ wrist + index finger: SLC contains monk

    -Monks in boxes (prej of audience) but they go from closed to open: shows how piece challenges stereotypes, c to f
  • Old and new china: 2 movements and analysis
    -Student/teacher relationship, SLC + LM sat seriously playing game, LM thinking expression, SLC offers blocks to LM by waving hand: old china S/T relationship

    -Use of janshu, sword tech w/ circular and cross body movements (twists sword in front of him, then slices to ground): old china tech
  • Journey of acceptance: 1 movement and analysis
    -SLC and LM begin of equal level, flip final line of boxes together: already accept each other, equal
  • Transformation: 1 movement and analysis
    -LM goes from quiet and serious to more childish: staring intently w/ SLC at game, then tricks monk and steals sword (transforming expectations, LM serious to child, monk from kung fu to being fooled, not otherworldly just people)
  • Costume + analysis
    SLC: dark grey western jacket + trousers, white trainers (sets him apart, darker colours outsider)

    Monks: light grey traditional robes (monk look, both grey diff shades, people diff cultures?)
  • Set + analysis
    Boxes in centre, rectangular stage, boxes open towards the end, SLC + LM sat on horizontal metal box

    Closed to open, prejudice to reality, SLC + LM outsiders bc they are sat separate on metal box
  • Lighting + analysis
    Spotlight on SLC and LM, main characters + makes them outsiders as light on them dark everywhere else
