    • However people were required to make 156 contributions to be eligible
    • people could claim support even if they hadnt made enough contributions

    • if workers were injured they wouldn’t fall into poverty

    • the NHS was created in Law through the National Health Service act 1946, it was funded through taxations and national insurance

    • people could access free medical treatment, the amount of prescriptions double by september 1946.
    • However, it was costing £358 million opposed to the £140 million that was set- costs were now introduced

    The NHS provided free medical treatment which was a huge first step. However , Charles Webster argues that the NHS benefited the wealthy more than the poor as costs were now introduced.
