  • Start and end of dance
    The city is built, ends with monks sitting down on top of buildings, SLC sitting on the floor in front of them
  • F+C: 2 movements and analysis
    -Monks standing on top of boxes/buildings, contained: minimal amount of space, contained in their own area, overcrowding link to new china

    -Freedom: Freely moving between the boxes, enough space to do flips, LM does the backwards handspring used in section 3 to show freedom
  • O+NC: 5 movements and analysis
    Old china:
    -Backflips, jump kicks and dives into rolls kung fu movements, show that the culture is still influenced slightly by old china

    New china:
    -Running and walking movements, people walking on a busy street trying to get to work, china's business culture

    -Less unison than in previous sections, show there is less community from old to new
    china/from the shaolin temple to cities

    -On top of boxes=on top of buildings, monks looking over the city with wonder

    -Young monk wandering around before settling behind one of the boxes, shows monks trying to find their place in modern society

    Boxes become cars and skyscrapers: New china, Building and destroying (building of city destroying of 'forest')
  • Costume and analysis
    Costume goes from robes to suits: Modernisation, the kung fu moments with suits could show the integration of old and new china, from this section SLC is more integrated into the monks so similar outfits could reflect tis, monks made an effort to understand him like he has to them?
