Forming: group gets together -> start to test relationship + work out their roles
Storming: heightened tension -> rebels may emerge against leader + competition for status/roles begins
Norming: norms/rules/behavioural standards are stabilised -> co-operation starts to replace conflict + group cohesion begins
Performing: maturation of group has been achieved + relationships are established. Group is now able to work as a unit with the primary goal being group success
