  • Adverse childhood events (ACE)
    • As the number of ACEs increases, so does the risk for negative health outcomes
  • Baby Blues
    -Due to the extreme hormone fluctuation at the time of childbirth
    -Peaks 3-5 days after delivery
    -Lasts no more than 2 days to 2 weeks
  • OCD is the most under-reported and under-treated disorder of childbirth
  • Bipolar Disorder Type 1
    • Characterized by at least one manic episode
    • Followed by hypomanic or major depressive episodes
    • Mania may trigger psychosis
  • Bipolar Disorder Type 2
    -Characterized by at least one major depressive episode and one hypomanic episode

    -Screening at 6 to 8 weeks postpartum
    -Score of 9 or more points -> referred immediately
