• girls outperform boys at GCSE and degree level
• between 2015 - 2019 5% more women than men gained a higher class degree
• gender impacts the degree choice. subjects like nursing, education,psychology are dominated by women. subjects like computer science, economics and engineering are male dominated
• in 1970 the Equal Pay Act made it illegal to discriminate against women in the workplace. despite this in 2019 the gender pay gap was over 17% (Mind the gap) due to sexism and inequality in the home
