  • What are natural resources?
    • Raw materials avaliable in the environment, which organsims use
    • Food, clothes, roof: All essential to survive and come from natural resources.
  • Differences between non-renewable and renewable resources?
    • Non: Limited supply due to the long time it takes to replenish these sources. Examples include coal, natural gas, and oil
    • Renewable: Unlimited supply, replenished naturally in a short time
  • Conventional, Alternative, & Future?
    • Conventional: generally nonrenewable sources that have been used for a long time. Examples: coal, oil, coltan.
    • Resources have been used so much that their known reserves have reduced so much
    • Alternative: Resources that can replace traditional fossil fuel sources (solar panels, tidal power plants, wind turbines)
    • Future: resources with potential to be used
  • 3 R'S + N (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle + Nothing)
    • Reduce: The best way to use resources, involves to see if we really need the item to reduce consumption.
    • Examples include: Fast fashion (cheap clothes that need to be replaced quickly) Electronics (upgrading even if you don't need to),Packaging (too much of it)
