Eysenk Personality Theory

• • Eysenk argues that those who are neurotic are more criminal
  • Aversion Therapy uses this principal in its treatment for sex offenders
• How it works:

  • Ask the criminal to imagine a deviant sexual act they find arousing until they are fully aroused, then cause pain or illness through electric shock or by giving a chemical
• Effectiveness:

  • Limited Success- normally short term
  • used to controversially “treat” homosexuality
  • goes against human rights
