Police Relationships

• The police give evidence to the courts and provide protection for vulnerable witnesses. They also hold defendants in cells and transport them too and from court.
• The police will provide the CPS with evidence for the prosecution of offenders, charging offenders in line with instructions.
• The police will arrest prisoners who have been recalled to prison for breaching their license.
• The police also work with voluntary organisations to support victims and witnesses to organisations like Victim Support, women's refuges, and the witness service.
