  • Definition - a word or expression that has a precise meaning in some uses
  • Definition of terms - an alphabetical list of important terms, acronyms or jargons
  • Jargons - a terminology only understood by people in a certain group
  • Technical definiton - also known as conceptual/theoretical definition. a definition that come from different references such as dictionaries
  • Operational definition - the researcher formulate the meaning of the term. commonly used the phrase " as used in the study"
  • Guidelines in Defining terms
    • only words with special meaning are defined
    • define terms technically
    • if the term is from references, acknowledge the source
    • if there an uncommon acronym, spell them out
    • definition should be short
  • Abstract - a short summary of a completed research
  • Introduction - the next part of the title and abstract
  • Literature review - it provides an overview of sources explored including book and any other relevant sources
  • Hypothesis - a statement of expectation or prediction that will be tested by research

  • Methodology - a systematic method to resolve a research problem through data gathering using various techniques
  • Population - the entire group that a research want to draw conclusions about (target things or any living organisms you will use in a research
  • Sample - a smaller part of group in the population
  • Respondents - they are the one that answers your questionnaire
  • Participants - they are the one that is participating in your research
  • Research - an organized and systematic way of finding answers to questions
  • Variable - any factor, trait, or condition that can be manipulated or measured in an experiment
  • Independent variable - the variable that is changed or manipulated
  • Dependent variable - a variable that responds to the changes
  • Research Instrument - any tool that may use to collect data for research
  • Questionnaire - the main instrument for collecting data
  • Data - any information that has been collected to validate original research findings
  • Results - the author provide the data collected during the study
  • Discussion - the section of research paper whose purpose is to interpret and describe the significance of the findings
  • Conclusion - intended to help the readers understand why the research should matter to them
  • Reference - the last page of the research paper that list all the sources used in the study
  • Appendix - this is where the researchers attach a copy of their research instrument
  • research paper - a piece of academic writing that provide analysis, interpretation, and argument based on in-depth independent research
