  • RESUME
    It is a document that shows a summary of a job applicant's qualifications, such as his or her educational attainment and professional experience.

  • Chronological
    • presents a job applicant's professional experience in reverse chronological order
    • begins with the individual's current job or with the most recent job that he or she has held
  • Functional
    • presents the job applicants professional experience by his or her major skills
    • highlights an applicant's skills and experience that match the job position
  • Combination
    • combines the most useful features of the chronological and functional résumés
    • includes the following features:
    •   summary of qualifications
    •   special skills
    •   highlights
  • Cover Letter
    • a letter of application
    • promotes the job applicant to the employer
    • used to screen applicants for a certain job
    • Inside Address - contains the full name and title of the hiring manager of the company and the company's name and address
    • Salutation - a phrase that typically begins with the word Dear and is punctuated with a colon
    • Body - conveys the main message of the job applicant
    • First paragraph - includes statement of purpose in writing the letter
    • Second paragraph - includes career highlights, mentions brief information about the company or the industry
    • Third paragraph - includes encouragement to the hiring manager to view the applicant's résumé
  • Curriculum Vitae - Presents full history of your academic and professional credentials/Mostly preferred in the academic and research fields

  • The Language of College Admission Essay is GENERALLY FORMAL
