  • Research
A systematic inquiry that is designed to collect, analyze, and interpret data to understand, describe, or predict phenomenon
  • Title
Summarizes the main idea or ideas of your study
  • Title
The research title sums up the variables being studied in the research
  • Title
Usually, the general problem is reflected in the research title
  • Title
Long titles are not recommended. A good research title is usually composed of 12 to 15 substantial words
  • Abstract
Summarizes all sections and help readers decide whether or not to read the entire report
  • Abstract
This will help the readers understand what your study is all about and remember the key ideas about your study
  • Background of the study
composes of an overview of the research topic, the area being researched, and previous studies and relevant information on the topic
  • Background of the study
The purpose of this part of the research paper is to demonstrate the relevance of the research question
  • Background of the study
The background of the study is part of a research provided in the introduction section of the paper
  • Statement of the problem
Describes an issue currently existing which needs to be addressed
  • Statement of the problem
It generates the questions which the research study aims to answer. It includes the objectives, an issue statement, and method to be used in solving the problem
  • Significance of the study
It exhibits the benefits and beneficiaries of the research paper. The beneficiaries are arranged according to the most benefited to the least benefited
  • Scope
explains the extent to which the study will be explored in the work and specifies the limits within which the study will be operating. The scope contains the explanation of the subject is being analyzed. Research usually limited in scope by sample size, time and location
  • Delimitation
explains the definite aspects of a subject chosen and the reason for exclusion
  • Theoretical framework
Theories serve as the backbone of research. It includes one CORE THEORY and at least two support theories
  • Hypothesis
A scientific statement of prediction. It describes in concrete (rather than theoretical) terms what you expect will happen in your study
  • Not all studies have hypothesis
  • Review of Related Literature
An analysis of man's written or spoken knowledge of the world. You examine representations of man's thinking about the world to determine the connection of your research with what people already know about it
  • Review of Related Literature
In your analysis or reading of recorded knowledge, you just do not catalog ideas in your research paper, but also interpret them or merge your thinking with the author's ideas
  • Review of Related Literature
Fusing your world understanding with the author's world perceptions enables you to get a good analysis of existing written works that are related to your research study
  • Variable
Any factor, trait, or condition that can be manipulated, controlled for, or measured in an experiment
  • Two common types of variable
    • Independent variable - The variable in an experiment that is changed or manipulated. Assumed to have a direct effect on the dependent variable
    • Dependent variable - The variable that responds to the changes. The variable being tested and measured. "Dependent" on the independent variable
  • Instrument
Any tool that you may use to collect data or obtain data, measure data, and analyze data that is relevant to the subject of your research
  • Questionnaire
The main instrument for collecting data in survey research
  • Data
Any information that has been collected, observed, generated, or created to validate original research findings
  • Results/Findings
The section of a research paper where the authors provide the data collected during their study
  • Discussions
The section of a research paper whose purpose is to interpret and describe the significance of your findings in light of what was already known about the research problem being investigated
  • Reference
The last page of your research paper that lists all the sources you utilized in your study. It gives credit to the authors you have consulted for their ideas
  • Appendix
Serves as the space for materials that help clarify your research, but do not belong in the main text. This is where the researchers attach a copy of their research instrument such as interview transcripts, questionnaires or a survey
  • Qualitative research
This is a research type that puts premium or high value on people's thinking or point of view conditioned by their personal traits
  • Qualitative research
Focuses on words or ideas, pictures, videos, sounds, smells, objects, artifacts, and other non-numerical data
  • Qualitative research
The findings of a qualitative research study are primarily comprehensive and descriptive
  • Quantitative research
It is usually characterized by a numerical measurement which is usually obtained through experimentation or tests
  • Quantitative research
Data are expressed in numbers, such as the rate of population growth in the Philippines, which are analyzed and treated statistically to test the hypothesis of the study
