  • The titration of Iodine (I2) against sodium thiosulfate, with starch as the indicator, is one of the most accurate of volumetric processes often referred to as Iodometry (Iodimetric Method).
  • The unusual indicator for iodometric titration is a colloidal dispersion of starch
  • the presence of iodine ions, gives a deep blue color with even minute amounts of free iodine, although the sensitivity is impaired by the presence of certain organic solvents such as alcohol.
