Ethnicity and crime

• 15% of UK are ethnic minorities
• There is a disproportionate amount of ethnic minorities in prison and arrests according to the Ministry of Justice

• Baroness Louise Casey stated in her report after the rape and killing of Sarah Everard by a police officer that evidence of widespread bullying, racist attitudes and 'deep - seated homophobia' in the police force could still be found
• According to the Home office, black officers are twice as likely to drop out after the first 6 months of police service
• According to the Home office, there are 266 senior roles in the police force and only 8 are BME
