• Light is energy and not matter, it does not have mass and does not occupy space

  Things that produce their own light
• Our sun is the main source of light during the day
• The moon actually doesn't produce light, it reflects light

  Light bounces off objects
• Blocking light


  Light can't pass through certain materials
• Opaque materials


  • Only can reflect light but don't allow light to pass through
• We can see objects because it reflects light from the light source
• Shadows


  The area where no or some light can reach
• Forming shadows


  Light is partially or completely blocked
• Changing the size of shadows (smaller)

  1. Move the object closer to the background

  2. Move the light source further from the object

• Reflection occurs when light bounces off an object's surface.
• The light source is the object that emits or reflects light.
•  Translucent means that light can pass through but only partially.
• Opaque objects do not allow any light to pass through them at all.
• Transparent means that most/all light can pass through .
