electric

Cards (8)

  • electricity is measured in units called watt when measured in small wuantities, the unit for measuring large quantities electric energy used is kilowatt-hour (kWh)
  • step 1 - always read the meters from left to right, the dials move in different directions. Dials A and C move counter-clockwise ( left to right ) while dials b and d move in a clockwise direction ( right to left)
  • step 2 - figure where the meter is pointing at.
  • step 3 - if the pointer falls between two numbers, use the lower number
  • step 4 - if the pointer is poiting directly on a number, alsways consult the dial to its right.
    ex ; dial c's pointer is pointing directly on NO.5, look at dial d, if dial d's pointer is pointing directly on 0 or between 0 and 1, then dial c will be read as 5, but if the pointer of dial d is pointing between 9 and 0, then dial c will be read as 4.
  • step 5 - write down your meters new reading. Thin will represent your "present reading" . Look for the previous reading, which can be either already provided or you need to read it, its based on the question, Then subtract you meters previous reading from the present reading. The asnwer will be the num of kilowatt-hours used
  • step 6 - multiply the total consuption by the basic change
  • solve - given : march - 3456, April - 3493, May - 3516. Solution - compute for the water consumption from march to may
    step 1 - get the total consumption
    3493 - 3456 = 37 m3 -> 37 m3 +
    3516 - 3493 = 23 m3 -> 23 m3 = 60 m3
    how much will he pay if the basic charge per cubic meter is PhP12.50?
    step 2 - multiply the total consumption by the basic charge
    60 x 12.50 = Php 750.00
