  • Lovell Rebellion:
    1486 - Viscount Lovell tried to raise an army in North Yorkshire, Thomas and Humphrey Stafford did the same in the Midlands.
    Rules of Sanctuary changed so that they could not reclaim it and was not applicable in cases of treason.
    Staffords executed, Lovell fled to Flanders.
  • Lambert Simnel:
    Resembled Earl of Warwick, a Prince in the Tower
    Support from Margaret of Burgundy
    Landed in Ireland in 1487 with 2,000 Swiss/German Mercenaries and Commander Schwarz
    Earl of Kildare crowned Simnel Edward VI in Dublin
    Battle of Stoke: June 1487
    Henry: 12,000 men under Earl of Oxford
    John de la Pole: 8,000, 50% casualties
    JDLP killed, Simnel sent to work in kitchens
  • Yorkshire Rebellion

    £100,000 tax demanded for war with Brittany, only £27,000 received.
    Earl of Northumberland murdered by John Egremont's rebels
    Earl of Surrey put rebellion down
    No more rebellion but tax quota never collected

    Impersonated Richard, other Prince in the Tower.
    Welcomed by Charles VIII of France but expelled following Treaty of Etaples in 1492

    1495 - Landed in Kent, never disembarked after 150 killed
    Welcomed by James IV in 1495 - marries King's cousin
    1496 - Small Scottish force crosses border, retreats
    1497 - Treaty of Ayton forces Warbeck out of Scotland
    Lands in Ireland, rejected as Kildare now loyal to Henry
    Lands in Cornwall attempting to exploit rebellion, surrenders in Exeter.
    1499 - Hanged after conspiring to escape with Warwick

    15,000 men marched to Exeter.
    1,000 killed in battle of Blackheath in September.

    1499 - Edmund de la Pole, Earl of Suffolk, flees to Calais - 51 acts of attainder placed on relations
    1501 - Flees to Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian
    1505 - Suffolk handed over in return for £158,000
    1513 - Executed by Henry VIII after imprisonment
