Archetypes

• Anima - an idealized woman who compels man to engage in feminine behaviors.
• Animus - woman source of meaning and power that both creates animosity towards man but also increases self-knowledge.
• Hero - starting with a humble birth, then overcoming evil and death.
• Persona - the mask we use to conceal our inner selves.
• Self- the who personality.
• Shadow - psyche's immoral and dark aspects.
• Trickster - child seeking gratification, sometimes being cruel and unfeeling in the process.
• Wise Old Man - the self as a figure of wisdom and knowledge.
• Great Mother - the idealized qualities of the mother figure.
• Archetypes are universal, inborn models of people, behaviors, and personalities that play a role in influencing human behavior. Suggested that these archetypes were archaic forms of innate human knowledge passed down from our ancestors
