  • 6CO2 + 6H2O + light energy -> C6H12O6 + 6O2
• What factors affect the Rate of Photosynthesis ?


  • Light intensity / temperature / carbon dioxide concentration / water availability
• What is the practical that shows the Rate of Photosynthesis ?


  • A light source is placed at a specific distance from the pondweed

  • Leave the pondweed for a set amount of time; as it photosynthesises, oxygen will be collected with a capillary tube and gas syringe.

  • Make sure the temperature is the same and the time it is left

  • Repeat following steps multiple times at different distances
