  • Lord Lovel and Stafford Rising 1486
    King on royal progress to York, unruly area. Francis, Lovel and Stafford brothers hiding in Sanctuary at Colchester since Bosworth. In April 1486 broke sanctuary to ambush the King. H7 sent a force to reason with the rebels; they dispersed. Lovel fled to Flanders, 1 Stafford brother executed, other pardoned.
  • Yorkshire Rebellion 1489
    A new tax levied by H7 without Parliament to fund campaign in Brittany caused protests in Yorkshire, their harvests had failed and had no money. Earl of Northumberland was murdered, Earl of Surrey defeated them and was installed as lieutenant.

  • How successful was the Cornish rebellion?
    Traditionally independent minded Cornish marched their 15,000 strong army to Blackheath. Led by Lord Audley. They were defeated there by the Royal army led by Lord Daubeney and Sir Rhys Ap-Thomas. Despite this, H7 unable to raise taxes and cannot send a large campaign to Scotland.

    Stanley was a chamberlin in King's household, order of the garter, but felt passed over, wanted revenge. He was executed when the conspiracy was uncovered.
