  • Constellation - The earliest astronomers divided the night sky into
groups of stars called constellations. The names of
the constellations are mainly a carryover from the
names assigned by early Greek, Babylonian and
    Egyptian astronomers.
  • Stellarium - is a planetarium software that shows exactly what you see when you look up at the stars.
  • Gnomon - primitive version of sundial
  • Moon - A natural object that orbits a larger object.
  • moon - also called a satellite, is a relatively small
object that is orbiting around a planet.
  • Sidereal Month – moon takes a full orbit in the Earth for 27
days, 7 hours, and 43 minutes.
  • DIURNAL MOTION -is the apparent daily revolution of the celestial sphere around the celestial poles as a direct effect of the Earth’s rotation on its axis.
  • ANNUAL MOTION - is the apparent yearly movement of the stars as
observed from Earth as a direct effect of the Earth’s revolution around the sun.
  • Lunar Eclipse - occur twice every year, happens during full moon
  • Solar eclipse - Occur twice in every 3 years, happens during new moon
  • Mercury - the smallest and the fastest of our neighbors, is somewhat larger than the moon and similar in appearance. It is the planet closest to the sun.
  • Venus - is the brightest object in the
sky, and even visible in daylight.
  • Mars - the reddish planet, is the only other known body whose surface conditions seemed suitable for life of some kind.
  • Jupiter is the most massive planet in our solar system, with four planet-sized moons and many smaller moons
  • Saturn - is one of the most remarkable objects in the sky, it has some 23 moon in ring, and titan is the largest, 1.6 times larger than the moon in earth
  • Synodic Month - it takes our Moon about 29.5 days to
complete one cycle of phases (from full Moon to full
    Moon) averages about 29.53 days.
