Foreign Aid - Impact of Troops

Cards (3)

  • Due to Hitler being reluctant to send troops, he instead sent military advisers and technicians to help Franco.
  • Mussolini sent 75000 volunteers to fight in the Civil War and the Italian Corpo Truppe Volontarie began arriving at the end of 1936.
  • International Brigades arrived from countries such as Peru, Finland, Canada, Ireland and Mexico. However, even though they were committed, they lacked experience. Their main victory was in Guadalajara, March 1937. They were asked to leave in 1938 as an attempt to end the conflict.
