  1. Connect microphone to computer

  2. Run Audacity to open blank project window

  3. Click on scale beside microphone symbol to activate monitoring meter

  4. Say words into microphone and check input level bar

  5. Adjust input settings if needed

  6. Press record button to start recording

  7. Say rhyme "Mary had a little lamb"

  8. Click stop button to stop recording

  9. Save recording as WAV file
• The rhyme "Mary had a little lamb" was used by Thomas Edison in 1877 for the first ever sound recording to demonstrate his phonograph invention
