  • Rich man
    • Dressed in purple and fine linen
    • Lived in luxury every day
  • Lazarus
    • Beggar

    • Longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table
    • Even the dogs came and licked his sores
  • What happened
    1. Beggar Lazarus died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side
    2. Rich man also died and was buried
    3. Rich man in Hades, in torment, looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side
    4. Rich man called to Abraham, asking him to send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and cool his tongue because he was in agony in the fire
    5. Abraham replied that in his lifetime the rich man received good things while Lazarus received bad things, but now Lazarus is comforted and the rich man is in agony
    6. A great chasm has been set in place so no one can cross over
    7. Rich man begged Abraham to send Lazarus to warn his five brothers so they don't also come to this place of torment
    8. Abraham said they have Moses and the Prophets, let them listen to them
    9. Rich man said if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent
    10. Abraham said if they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead
