Schools pass on a set of social norms and values to their students, e.g. turning up to lessons on time, working hard to achieve rewards. Teaching students things they will need in adult life to prepare for a hierarchy at work
Labelling theory and Self-fulfilling Prophecy
People decide on characters of others and treat them accordingly. If a student is labelled a "trouble-maker", they're disciplined more harshly. Student internalises the label they've been given and "acts up" to the label
Institutional racism
Educational policies, procedures and practices of institutions discriminate on ethnic or racial grounds, e.g. ethnocentric curriculum and ethnocentrism in food, holidays
