Our Father - The
Lord's
Prayer
"Our Father in
heaven
,
hallowed be thy name,
your
kingdom
come,
your
will
be
done
,
on
earth
as it is in
heaven.
Give
us today our daily
bread.
And
forgive
us our debts
as we also have forgiven our
debtors.
And lead us not into
temptation
,
but deliver us from the
evil
one."
The
lords
prayer is the most
famous Christian
prayer. It was taught by Jesus himself and contains many of the key Christian beliefs about God.
Set prayers are often from books such as the book of common prayer. They are easy to follow and give a sense of
solidarity
with other
Chrisitans.
Informal
prayers can be said silently or aloud. They are
spontaneous
and usually 'from the heart'.
"Is anyone among you
suffering
? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing
praise
"
"If we asking anything according to his
will
, he will
hear us
"
"Be
constant
in
prayer
"
"The prayer of a
righteous
man is
powerful
and effective"
"Whatever you ask in in
prayer
, believe that you have been
perceived
and it will be yours"
"The
Lord
is far from the
wicked
, but he hears the prayer of the righteous"
