• China owns one of the 5 permanent seats of the United Nations
• The United nations was formed after WW2 and the People's Republic of china has been a member since 1971.
• In 2018 China provided the United nations 8% of the budget for that year and 8000 reserve troops.
• As part of the UN China has recently been involved in imposing sanctions to denuclearise North Korea.
• The G20 accounts for 90% of all economic output and focuses on improving world economies, trade and employment.
• At the 2017 G20 summit there were tensions between China and the US
• At the 2018 G20 summit China and the US agreed to prevent introducing additional tartariffs on eachother.
• China wants to rule Taiwan again whilst the US protects it.
• In 2018 China and the US disagreed on imposing further sanctions against north Korea.
• In June 2018 US defence secretary met with president xi to discuss development in south east Asia. Xi stated that he wouldn't give an inch of territory to the US.
• In 2019 the US imposed additional taxes on 200 billion dollars worth of Chinese goods.
• 2018 marked 15 years of China and the EU strategic partnership, they launched the 2020 strategic agenda for cooperation.
• The 2020 agenda for cooperation focused on stronger peacekeeping and enhanced trade links.
• China and the EU trade over $1 billion in products and services daily.
• The EU has criticised China for not doing enough to prevent counterfeit goods. 60% of counterfeit goods confiscated in the EU are thought to be from China.
