There are 3 types of Salivary Glands; Sublingual gland, Submandibular Gland, Parotid Glands/
Submandibulargland is also called submaxillarygland.
Sublingual gland - Upper top of the tongue.
Submandibular / submaxillary gland - located in the jaw.
Parotid glands - located in the base of the ear.
Epiglottis - the flap that covers the trachea during swallowing so the food does not enter the lungs.
Peristalsis - Is the involuntary contraction and relaxation of longitudinal and circular muscle throughout the digestive tract, allowing for the propulsion of contents beginning in the pharynx and ending in the anus.
Bolus - The combination of saliva and food.
Bolus turns into Chyme after digestion in the stomach.
Rugae - foldings in the stomach. It is to expand the stomach.
Duodenum - First part of the small intestine where bile and pancreatic juice are added to aid in further digestion.
Ileum - Last part of the small intestine where most absorption occurs.
The stomach has gastic juice which is the mixture of Hydrochloric Acid and Pepsinogen.
Jejunum - Parasytes stay here
Cecum - A pouch that forms the first part of the large intestines.
Ascending colon - Lies on the tight side of the abdominal cavity.
Transverse colon - A section of the large intestines that can run across.
Descending colon - connects to the transverse and sigmoid colon.
Sigmoid colon - The S shaped last part of the large intestines.
The three macronutrients are carbohydrate, protein, fats.
