What does Internalisation mean?
When someone publicly change their behaviour to fitin with the group and doesn'tchange when the group isn't present. An internal (private) and external (public) change of behaviour. Deepestlevel of conformity. permanent change
What does compliance mean ?
When someone publiclyagrees with the group’s behaviour or views but privatelydisagrees.Temporary change.

To investigate if people would conform to the majority in situations where the answer was obvious
What was the procedure of Asch’s study?
Participants were in groups of 6-8
Each group was presented with a standard line and 3 comparison lines
ppts had to say aloud which comparison lines matchedstandard lines in length.
Each group had one ppts and the rest were confederates
the ppts was seated second last or last and didnt know the other ppts were confederates
confederates all gave the same incorrect answer
confeserates were told to give the incorrect answer on 12 out of 18trials.
