  • Case Studies
    Range of data collected from a source through interview and observation, or content analysis, providing high level of detail
  • Usually conducted on:
    • Psychologically unusual individuals
    • Unusual events
    • Organisational practices
    • Typical individuals within a demographic
  • Case studies produce qualitative data but can produce quantitative in some circumstances
  • Longitudinal Studies
    Long term study that follows up on participants over many years
  • (+) A03: Realism
    Data collected results in realism due to the natural setting, the holistc approach is has gives high valid insights and reflection of experience
  • (+) A03: Ethical
    Only way to study unusual scenarios, not replicable due to ethical issues already there but can create rich data to make hypothesises
  • (-) A03: Interviews
    Interviews can produce lots of data, but can contain inaccurate recall or bias in response due to memory conformity
  • (-) A03: Not Generalisable
    May of been unknown factors occuring during observation, case studies have a low reliability and could suffer from researcher bias and loss of objectivity
