  • Independent Variable
    Is what is varied during the experiment. The scientist changes this. "What am I changing?"
  • Dependent Variable
    Is what will be measured. The scientist measures, records this. This is what the scientist looks at to see what the effect /response is having changed thinks will be affected during the experiment.
  • Controlled Variables
    Since the scientist wants to study the effect of one particular independent variable, everything else must stay the same.
  • The independent variable is placed on the x-axis.
  • The dependent variable will be placed on the y-axis.

    Is used for comparison

    An educated guess. A good hypothesis always contains an If……then
